It's really amazing how far the humble barcode has come. I still remember going shopping with my mother when I was a child and the cashier had to look at the item, key in the amount to the register, and then push a 'total' button at the end. It all seems so...archaic now. I even remember the first time I saw a barcode-driven pos system in my local supermarket. I was strangely excited by the bleeps every few seconds. Now the technology is available for business of every size, with POS systems and barcode makers relatively inexpensive.

It is also amazing how much you cannot do when making products without a UPC code. As much as we are doing digital product development the good old hard copy "Let me put my hands on it" product still demands the bar code.
    Thanks for this tutorial

How can we identify the country of origin from a BAR CODE ????? eg To know where the product originates from ? L.Lemieux
